The silent sniper12/29/2023 “I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot him, if it were me,” she said, then turned to deal with some nearby beasts. Looking over to Sakura, she just shrugged. “I’m not going to shoot you,” you said flatly, but he was gone. “Shoot me with this when I get down there,” he instructed. Before he left, Kalpas gave you a ‘hey’,’ and tossed you the presumably fire bullet. There were several weaker enemies that could easily swarm you, and since the Honkai beast was resistant to ice, it made more sense for her to stick with you. Sakura was on babysitting duty this time (though arguably, she babysat Kalpas every mission). You decided not to question it any further and started the mission. “Yeah,” he sounded so casual about it, like it was completely normal to carry around someone else’s bullets. “Kalpas,” he gave a hum to show you had his attention. It had a little fire symbol, but you had never worked on making flame rounds before, so you had no way of knowing what it did. Two looked like the standard bullets you use, but the last one you didn’t recognize. ![]() One was the specialized round you had used to break the pseudo-Herrscher’s shield. On Kalpas’ back, attached to the harness he wore-that you definitely never stared at-were four very familiar bullets. The next mission, you didn’t notice anything different until you got off the transport ship. A little while later, there was a supply drop, and you were able to return to your sniper to complete the mission. When you met up with the rest of your team, they both stared at you until your glare drove them to look anywhere else. Though not your preferred weapon, you were still a crack shot with a pistol, and you had no qualms with using your fists or steel toed boots to handle any zombies that got too close. ![]() It was the most either of them had heard you speak as you chewed out some poor soul back at base for not giving you the supplies you needed. As soon as your comms linked, you could be heard shouting, and it was clear you were not in a good mood. You didn’t even reach Sakura and Kalpas before you were forced to switch to your pistol. ![]() Entering the field, you had half as many bullets as usual, and twice as many enemies. Despite having asked for ammo on the way, you received none, the ship transporting you having left before the request could be filled. It had been an emergency deployment, directly from another mission, so you hadn’t had a chance to restock. This mission was the first one you could remember having the issue, and you swore at yourself for being in this position. Most missions, you wouldn’t even get low.
